Adele May (PhD) is a lecturer and researcher at the Centre for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (CAAC) at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She completed her Masters, PhD (AAC) and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pretoria. As a speech-language therapist, she has 20 years of experience in supporting communication of people with disabilities across the lifespan. She has a special interest in AAC and dementia. Her research focuses on AAC interventions for persons with dementia that are person-centred, evidence-based; and those that apply participatory and inclusive methods in its design.
