Ramiz Behbudov

Ramiz Behbudov is Deputy Representative in the UNICEF Country Office in Bulgaria since September 2023. He is responsible for the delivery of the development and emergency programming of UNICEF in Bulgaria, to promote the rights of #everychild in the country. 

Ramiz Behbudov brings over 22 years of combined experience and expertise, working in the international development field, mostly in the Middle East, South Asia, Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia regions. 

Before assuming his current role, between 2022-23, he served as the Chief Field Office in Gaza, for UNICEF Office in the State of Palestine and was responsible for the UNICEF programme and operations in the Gaza Strip. Mr Behbudov also served as the Chief Field Operations for UNICEF Ukraine Country Office, between 2019-2022 and oversaw the totality of UNICEF programming in Eastern Ukraine, supporting people and children impacted by the armed conflict. Between 2015-2019, he served as Chief Child Protection for UNICEF Sri Lanka. Mr Behbudov also worked as Child Protection Specialist with UNICEF Country Office in Azerbaijan. Before joining UNICEF in 2013, he worked with various international non-for-profit organizations, in the field of community development, public health, child rights, disability rights, alternative care, deinstitutionalization of children separated from families, and other fields in Ukraine, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan. Mr. Behbudov holds Masters in Public Administration and BA in History. A national of Azerbaijan, Ramiz is fluent in Azerbaijani, Russian, and English.
